Cashierless Stores – What’s it all about?

The Cashierless Store Basics

Shop Smart at CashierLess Stores

The world is getting efficient and smarter every day, thanks to Artificial Intelligence. The cashier-less shopping stores are now the center of attraction in the market, and Amazon Go stores are popping up in the market.

If you just purchased as a small item like a soft drink and you must wait at the exit point, then cola is not much of a fun. In another case, when you shop enthusiastically enough and further get tired at checkpoints, that’s no fun at all.

Your next purchasing experience is going to be Smart and hassle-free, of course.

The First Future Store:

Amazon set up its first Amazon Go store in 2016 in its hometown, and it was quite a small one compared to grocery stores in the US. It mostly sells beverages, drinks, ready-made food products, and basic grocery items.

Its service resulted in quite an impressive success (based on customer reviews and convenience) that the company decided to spread its network countrywide and on supermarkets.

Inside Amazon Cashierless System:

The purchasing method is so simple that customers can grab a sandwich and leave the store without waiting at checkout. Customers must log in to the special Amazon Go app to get access to the store, then scanning the merchandise while you shop items and charging via App or credit card.

And yes, you can think of how these stores would handle any incidence of theft without checkpoints. To make sure nobody escapes without being charged, they have a very sensitive system to rely upon.

There are hundreds of cameras and sensors all over the place to monitor customer activities. These sensors and cameras are supported by artificial intelligence to detect which items are picked and taken away by customers. Then making sure charges are paid by customers when they leave the store.

Future of Cashierless Stores:

The cashier-less stores are need of time featuring smart technology and impressive customer experience. Nobody has time to wait in lanes at checkpoints when they are already exhausted with heavy shopping.

Amazon Cashierless Stores:

Amazon launched its first convenience store at Seattle in its hometown in 2016. Not only Amazon is progressively increasing GO stores, but there are other brands as well. Walmart and Sam’s club are also introducing cashier-less stores in Texas. Based on the popularity of future stores, we can imagine it in every store in the corner.

Other tech giants like Ali Baba, JD, and Tencent, are also not behind in this game. They are focused on increasing their cashier-less stores countrywide.

Challenges and Risks Involved:

There are always some risks and challenges involved while adopting new technology.

  1. First, the security risks are concerned because Amazon would and other business giants would be collecting your date (with more details). Cyber-attacks are more than active nowadays, so tech companies should use strict security protocols for sensitive information.
  2. Secondly, awareness on how to use this technology is also essential as a layperson might not understand how to operate it. So guiding staff should be hired, at least for a couple of months after introducing advanced technology.
  3. Thirdly, some people consider it convenient to pay cash for purchased goods. To entertain those customers, a separate cashier checkpoint should be established.

And lastly, many workers would be jobless and students who work along with their studies to manage their expenses. An alternative for them must be under consideration.

Conclusion:

With the rise of smart and efficient lifestyle, these future smart stores are another convenience doorsteps. Instead of waiting at exit checkpoints in supermarkets, you can have wonderful leisure time at home. Everything is in your control with a smart App.

There are few cashier-less stores in the US right now, but this technology will be found in every store soon.
